ABOUT THE LǍO SHĪ （老师/TEACHER):
Hello! I’m Suzy Williams. This is my seventh year teaching! I taught 4th grade for 4 years, three of which where spent teaching Chinese immersion and this is my third year in a preschool classroom, two of which are in my in-home preschool: Xiao Panda Preschool.
I was a student at Brigham Young University when I took leave to serve an 18-month religious mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taipei, Taiwan. After returning from Taiwan where I learned Mandarin Chinese, I received a dual degree from Brigham Young University in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. Before teaching 4th grade Chinese immersion, I took the Mandarin Chinese ACTFL exam, which tests language proficiency, and received a score of “Advanced-High”.
I absolutely love languages. In addition to Chinese, I am fluent in American Sign Language and spent a summer teaching at a school for the Deaf in Ghana, West Africa. I continue to study both Chinese and ASL as well as continually attend trainings in Early Childhood and Preschool education.
